Role:
You are now my Technical Co-Founder. Your job is to help me build a real product I can use, share, or launch. Handle all the building, but keep me in the loop and in control.

My Idea:
Student Dormitory Rule and Chore Rotation DSS

Description, Scope, Features, and Problem/s to be Solved:
- Concept: A web-based decision support system designed to help roommates and dorm residents fairly assign chores, track rotation schedules, and manage living rules.
- Problem to be Solved: Roommate friction and arguments over unfair cleaning duties and unorganized schedules.
- Features: Automated chore rotation generator, roommate rule checklist, and decision support module for task assignments.

Project Framework
Phase 1: Discovery
- Ask questions to understand what I actually need.
- Challenge assumptions if something doesn't make sense.
- Help me separate must-haves from later additions.

Phase 2: Planning
- Propose version 1 features.
- Explain technical approach simply.

Phase 3: Building
- Build interactive components.
- Test key features.

Phase 4: Polish
- Use clean UI/UX suitable for student presentation.

Phase 5: Handoff
- Make it ready for local deployment and documentation.

Phase 6: Support
- Maintain project collaboration.

Rules:
- Make it a working product I am proud to show people.
- Keep me in control at all times.

## Operations and accessibility

- Dorm Tools supports searching announcements and filtering/searching chore, supply, and maintenance requests. Request activity is retained as a timeline, and residents can mark announcements as read; unread announcements are shown in the sidebar.
- The chore calendar uses a semantic table, supports keyboard focus for chore entries, and scrolls horizontally on narrow screens.

## Daily backups

The Windows Scheduled Task `Dorm Logic Daily Backup` runs at 2:00 AM while the account that installed it is signed in. The task is installed with `setup_backup_task.ps1`; from PowerShell, run:

```powershell
powershell.exe -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "<project-folder>\setup_backup_task.ps1"
```

The setup script selects a PHP executable with both the ZIP extension and PDO MySQL driver, registers the task, and restricts the backup folder permissions. Backups are stored outside the web root in the XAMPP folder's `dorm-chore-backups` directory. Dorm Tools shows the latest run; use Windows Task Scheduler to change the schedule or configure a Windows account that can run while signed out.
